Black and white are the ultimate classic combination. Regardless of what you’ve heard, both black and white attire and home decor are suitable for all seasons. It’s just a matter of shades and presentation. Here are a few of my favorite black-and-white finds for fall.

The woven black and white buffalo plaid mat is perfect for year-round use. It’s suitable for indoor and outdoor entryways (I have one just inside my front door), and while it’s considered farmhouse style, I find that it works well with just about every decor.

Muk Luks are my favorite slipper brand. They are comfortable, washable, and offered at a price point that makes it affordable to get a new pair every year. These are my “indoor shoes” every winter. I’ve chosen this pair because I love the contrast stitching around the sole and the black tassel. However, these slippers come in twenty different styles, so there is definitely something for everyone.

A weighted blanket is a year-round investment in good sleep. What I love about this one is that it’s designed to keep you cool, so you can use it anytime, even in the warmest climates. The weight is in the knit, which differentiates it from other weighted blankets packed with glass beads. The knit does double duty, creating a breathable texture and a beautiful design. This is another example of form meeting function to create a piece worth the investment. The final standout feature for me is washability. Most weighted blankets that I’ve researched are not washable or only have a machine-washable cover. That’s a deal-breaker. Treat yourself to a good night’s sleep or give it as a gift to someone you love.

If you prefer a more delicate slipper than the Muk Luk slipper boot above, how about this little pair of ballet slippers? They are just fancy enough to dress up your at-home loungewear or favorite set of PJs for an evening in. If you are hosting family and friends for the holidays or planning to visit someone else, a classic, clean ballet slipper is the perfect indoor footwear. If you are a “no shoes in the house” family, these make a lovely gift to welcome your guests and make them feel at home.

A plaid flannel shirt is a classic for a reason. This ladies’ long-sleeve button-down is 100% cotton flannel and is cut with a flattering close fit with enough room to move comfortably. This is a perfect piece for layering or on its own.

Vejas are still the IT sneakers this season. If you are going to invest in a pair, I would go with the classic black and white. This will never go out of style and can be worn year-round. If you have a young woman on your gift list this year, go ahead and find out her size!

The Roulens Tripple Zip Crossbody is my favorite crossbody bag. I spend way more time than anyone should trying to find the Goldilocks of bags. It can’t be too small because apparently, I have a lot of stuff that I absolutely HAVE to carry with me everywhere. It can’t be too big because then my neck and shoulder bother me, and really, how much do I need to carry around anyway? It does need to be a crossbody bag for me, though. I have chronic neck and shoulder pain, so ditching my tote for everyday use was a necessity.

I used to work in a hospital, and it was always freezing. This chunky buffalo plaid sweater by Mud Pie was a staple for me. I could hide a base layer long-sleeved t-shirt underneath, and I would pair it with simple slim-cut black pants. The mock neck is comfortable (no choking), and the bell sleeve dresses it up nicely. Want to know the best part? It’s machine washable!

Palazzo pants are the best trick ever. These are listed as flowy yoga pants/ pajama bottoms, however, add a pretty cardigan and a pair of cute flats, and you have an outfit that is perfect for a night out. I have worn palazzo yoga pants to work, to volunteer all day at the book fair, for travel, and to dinners out for years. I always get compliments. No one knows I’m wearing pajamas. Oh, and guess what, they have pockets!

If you’re looking for the perfect shoe to dress up those palazzo pants, or any other outfit, this classic cream and black ballet flat fits the bill. I love the ribbon detail and the slightly boxy toe for comfort.

If you are in a warmer climate, or if you’re doing all the cooking this holiday season, opt for something light and flowy to keep you cool and give you room to work. This swing dress from Mud Pie has a flattering neckline and just enough puff in the sleeve with a tapered closure that makes it perfect for cooking and serving. I know this sounds old-fashioned because plenty of men do the cooking. I just like to be comfortable whether I’m doing the prep, the cooking, the serving, or the clean-up (or all of the above).
